In light of the lack of uniformity of licensure and certification standards throughout the United States, what ethical issues do professionals face if they relocate to practice in another state?  Take a look at the counseling compact legislation that is developing over time at CounselingCompact.org or the American Mental Health Counseling Association or American Counseling Association has information on the counseling compact.  Consider the pros/cons and risks to providing telehealth services to clients other than your “home” state of Illinois for your LPC or later LCPC.

Minimum use of textbook to demonstrate review of course materials.  Additionally, integrate ACA code of ethics or peer reviewed journal article into main post.  Demonstrate understanding by paraphrasing content into your own wording.  APA format.

Rhetorical Speech Analysis

Purpose: The goal of this analysis is to apply the concepts you have learned throughout
this course to a historical speech.

Task: Select one speech from the following list and write a 3-4—page analysis
analyzing the speech. Your report should be double spaced, adhere to APA style, and
address each category listed below.

Speech options: Choose one of the top 100 speeches to evaluate from
Americanrhetoric.com (make sure the speech has video and audio components, not
just audio): https://www.americanrhetoric.com/top100speechesall.html
Your analysis should address the following categories:

 Organization: Analyze the organization of the speech. Does the speaker’s
introduction and conclusion include the necessary elements, such as an
attention getter, main statement, preview/review of main points, and concluding
statement/call to action? What organizational pattern is used? Could the
speaker have selected a more appropriate organizational pattern? Does the
speaker use transitions? Are the main points clear and do they have enough
supporting material? How could the speaker improve the organization of the
speech? Explain your answers.

 Content: Analyze the speaker’s use of persuasion. What type of
argument/reasoning does the speaker use? Does the speaker use logos,
ethos, and/or pathos? How? Does the speech contain any logical fallacies?
What is the goal of this speech? Does the speaker achieve the goal? How
could the speaker improve the use of persuasive elements? Explain your
answers.

 Vocal Delivery: Analyze the speaker’s vocal aspects of delivery. Does the
speaker use proper paralinguistics? Does the speaker pause appropriately?
Also, is the speech free from vocal fillers? Are words articulated and
pronounced correctly? How could the speaker improve vocal aspects of
delivery? Explain your answers

 Physical Delivery: Analyze the speaker’s physical aspects of delivery. Does the
speaker use proper kinesics? How does the speaker use posture, gestures,
illustrators, and emblems? Does the speaker have good posture and eye
contact? What facial expressions are used? How could the speaker improve
physical aspects of delivery? Explain your answers.

 Style: Your analysis should be at least 3 pages, double spaced, not including
your heading. Your writing should be clear, concise, and easy to understand,
and should be free from grammatical and syntactical errors. You should
include an introduction, conclusion, and transitions in your paper. Cite sources
using APA style if you use any outside resources.

Suggestions:

You can type.  Sometimes the alignment of bases is off due to the width of each letter.  Be careful.

Word in Office 365 has a drawing tab.  Use a stylus (digital pen) so that your work is legible.  Another option:  You can also upload the file to Windows whiteboard and write on the document there.  Text boxes can be used, however, make sure that you draw a line to what is being labeled.

If you choose to print out the file and photograph the page, make sure you can convert the file to a pdf.  There are many apps that can convert a phone photo to a pdf.  Also, make sure the initial photo is sized and positioned correctly.   It must be legible.

Think about the ecological biome that you currently live in or grew up in and share your thoughts with the class. How would you classify your biome – temperate forest, temperate grassland, etc.? What are the dominant types of vegetation and animal species that live there? How have human activities changed your biome over time?

Part 2

Reply DB Respond

Part II: Growing up I spent most of my Summers on our family farm, which Biomeviewer list as a Temperate Deciduous Forest area. As a working farm, the vegetation differs from the Oak, Beach, Birch, and Maple trees listed by the website, consisting of mostly Cedar and Mesquite trees with Oak mixed in. The cleared pastures also have been seeded with native Bermuda grass for the cattle to graze. There is some native Goat Weed in and around the stands of trees, but the pastures have been burned and reseeded. Most of the (52) listed mammal species such as raccoons and rabbits are present, but their populations are down from previous years due to a multi-year drought. There does not seem to be any conflict between the cattle and native mammals, other than when coyotes attempt to cull out new calves at night, a group of full-grown cows can incircle and stomp a coyote to death. We also try and keep the native large predator population culled down. The website also list (38) species of amphibians such as frogs and salamanders, but I have only ever seen frogs. We have (1) pond we dug out as a reservoir that is filled by runoff from our fields, with the landscape graded for drainage. Other than this area, there is very little standing water, and birds keep any small wildlife thinned out by it as there is very little tree cover.
